While Ancient Evils as a site is primarily focused on the encounter side of the game, there’s been a decent amount of player card related stuff as well. This includes deck discussions, investigator primers, single card deep dives and even full investigator set reviews. Also, some rankings and tierlists.
Deck Tech and Investigator Primers
Guardian
Counter-Encounter Zoey – Zoey Samaras. With encounter manipulation and the ability to take on the mythos for her teammates (and get rewarded for it), this Zoey is a true “Guardian”.
Zoey bestows Crystals – Zoey Samaras. Using her access to cards from several classes, this deck combines the Crystallizer of Dreams, Bestow Resolve and bonded spells to crush skill tests.
Tool’s Gold – Wilson Richards. Pre-release investigator primer for Wilson, including a card-by-card for an example deck and upgrade path.
Seeker
“Greatest Hits” Mandy – Mandy Thompson. Using the events from her rogue offclass, this Mandy deck gets the most out of the “greatest hits” among the seeker assets.
“Three Decks” Joey – Joe Diamond. This deck splits up its card over several subdecks, allowing Joe not only some control over what he draws, but also to just draw more.
Limited Cardpool Lucius – Lucius Galloway. Building Lucius as a primary seeker only using cards from Drowned City and the Core Set.
Rogue
Anything You Can Do, Better – Winifred Habbamock. My favorite deck on my favorite investigator, taken as a jump off point for a full investigator primer on how to play the most rogueish of rogues.
New Skids on the Block – Skids O’Toole. EotE, Scarlet Keys and Hemlock Vale were kind to the often shunned rogue from the Core Set. In this investigator primer, i go over why Skids is good now and what he gained recently to turn the tide for him.
Limited Cardpool Michael – Michael McGlen. Building Michael as a primary fighter only using cards from Drowned City and the Core Set.
Mystic
Arcane Archer – Luke Robinson. A deck built around maximizing the Enchanted Bow, enabling Luke to kill everything from afar.
Survivor
Patriciafred Habbaway – Patrice Hathaway. Using Transfiguration to turn into Winifred mid-scenario, this deck puts all those incredible skills that Survivor has into the hands of the investigator that is best at using them.
Neutral
The Gaze of Kane – Charlie Kane. A seeker/rogue curse deck that uses Dayana to repeatedly nuke enemies with Gaze of Ouraxsh.
